NASULGC, the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges, and NAFSA: Association of International Educators are joining forces to co-found a new Center for Capacity Building in Study Abroad. The Center has positioned itself strongly with the announcement of its first director.
New Director Announced: Margaret Heisel
Margaret Heisel, Ph.D. comes to NASULGC/NAFSA from the University of California, Office of the President, where she has served as Deputy Vice Provost of Academic Affairs. She has extensive experience at UC in international education, selective undergraduate admission, K-14 outreach programs, community college transfer programs, and multi-campus collaborative instructional programs.She brings to her new position broad leadership experience, bringing together colleagues within the 10-campus University of California system and across the State's educational segments to address statewide issues of student achievement, educational quality, learning outcomes, and articulation of courses and curricula.
Heisel also was an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Assistant Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of New Orleans and has taught Spanish language and literature courses at Middlebury College and the University of the Pacific. She completed a Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin American Studies at the University of Kansas.
